Presented by technical, commercial, and legal experts from the U.S. aluminum industry, the seminar raises the working knowledge of everyone who touches an aluminum import: brokers, CBP, and other agencies. Better-informed entries reduce holds and penalties and strengthen enforcement against fraud, circumvention, and evasion.

Hear directly from producers about how aluminum is made, specified, and sold, and where misdescription, transshipment, and origin fraud show up in real shipments.

Producers, fabricators, and trade counsel from the U.S. aluminum industry build the program and revise it for each edition, and it devotes a full section to fraud, circumvention, and evasion.

After the classroom sessions, Custom Aluminum Products opens its Genoa plant for a guided tour from billet to finished, fabricated extrusion, including finishing lines for anodizing and paint. It is the fastest way to make classification and mill-certificate concepts concrete.
A free networking reception follows the tour, so plan to stay and talk with presenters, CBP colleagues, and industry hosts.

Genoa is about 65 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, in DeKalb County. Free on-site parking is available for attendees driving in.
Free shuttle bus
A free shuttle bus runs to and from western-suburban Chicago pickup points in Schaumburg, IL and Rosemont, IL. Choose a pickup point when you register; departure times are emailed to shuttle riders the week before the seminar.
Flying in
O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is the nearest major airport. The Rosemont shuttle pickup is minutes from the airport hotels, and Schaumburg serves the western suburbs.

Frequently asked
Who should attend?
Customhouse broker personnel handling imported aluminum, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, and employees of other U.S. Government agencies interested in aluminum enforcement. Attendance is not geographically restricted; participants from outside the Chicago area are encouraged.
Is the seminar really free for government employees?
Yes. U.S. Government employees register at no charge and receive the electronic manual. Eligibility is verified at check-in with a government ID. The optional catered lunch ($10) is the only item government attendees may choose to pay for. Government attendees are responsible for following their agency's ethics rules.
Can I attend only part of the day?
You can, but the classroom program is presented once with no repetition, so you will miss the sections you skip. Any accredited continuing-education credit will be subject to the accreditor's attendance rules.
How do I get the seminar manual?
Each attendee receives the seminar manual in the format chosen at registration. Electronic manuals will be made available to attendees; hardbound manuals are handed out at check-in. Seminar materials are provided only to attendees who are physically present at the program.
What is the refund policy?
For paid attendees, the Program's refund/cancellation policy is as follows.
- Attendees who cancel at least 21 days prior to the commencement of the seminar will receive a 100% refund of the materials fees (seminar book) provided in conjunction with the seminar.
- Attendees who cancel less than 21 days prior to the commencement of the seminar but at least 10 days prior to the commencement of the seminar will receive a 50% refund of the materials fees (seminar book) provided in conjunction with the seminar.
- Attendees who cancel less than 10 days prior to the commencement of the seminar, or who are a "no show" for the seminar, will not receive a refund of the materials fees (seminar book) provided in conjunction with the seminar. Seminar materials will be provided only to those attendees who are physically present at the program.
Can I register several people at once?
Yes. One order can include up to ten attendees with different ticket types, lunch choices, and shuttle pickups. Each attendee receives their own ticket and QR code.
